Robert Ross, who is now 82 years of age and lives in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla. made his fortune in 1970’s.

       

He grew up in very harsh economic times. His father died when he was only 8 years old. He lived with his mother and four sisters. As he grew older he started contributing in up keeping the house like all others.

       

He was very ambitious kind of boy from very small age. At the age of 13, he started distributing papers in some large apartment buildings. He use to get up 4 in the morning and delivered 200 copies of ‘The Detroit Free Press’, the morning paper. But he was not satisfied with his small paper route so he started delivering 200 copies of ‘The Detroit News’, the afternoon newspaper after his school. He rarely missed a day.

       

He won a prize for building up one of the biggest paper route in Detroit in 1933. He was earning $100 per week at the age of 15. It is true that “Enterpreneurship is something you are born with", and Robert had it. The successful businessman is not only the one who takes greater risks. Some times the case is different they are not successful, for that one should be persistent, if you are not and don’t follow through, you’ll be a failure.

       

He traded commodities like Petroleum and grain to Soviet Union. He was also the founder of the Ross University School of Medicine on Dominica in the Caribbean and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on St. Kitts. He sold the school this year for $135 million. The buyer was Leeds Weld & Company a private equity firm in New York.
