SCOTT SPEEDMAN has recently become known to American television audiences after making his debut last fall in the acclaimed WB drama “Felicity.”
Born in London, England, and raised in Toronto, Canada, Speedman first began to gain attention through his work in the short feature “Can I Get A Witness.” The film was developed at the Norman Jewison Film Center in Toronto and was screened at the 1996 Toronto International Film Festival. Soon after, he landed the lead role in the independent film “Kitchen Party.”
Speedman then began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York before landing the role on “Felicity.” Having never performed on the stage before, Speedman spent this past hiatus from “Felicity” starring in the Edward Albee play “The Zoo Story” at the equity Theater in Toronto.
Speedman spent most of his youth immersed in athletics, following in the footsteps of his mother who held a world record in running. At ages 12 and 14, Speedman was part of the relay swim team that held a national record. In 1992, as a member of the Canadian Junior National Swim Team, Speedman performed well at the Olympic trials, but an injury forced him to leave the sport.
