Keshubhai Patel is a former Chief Minister of Gujarat. He was the son of a farmer. He started his public life as a swayam sevak of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh. Later, he became Vice-President and President of the Gujarat Pradesh Jana Sangh.
In 1969, he was appointed the Director of Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank. He was an active member of Rajkot Municipality. He played his role in Navnirman agitation, Goa Satyagrah and Anti-Price Rise Agitation. This brought him a lot of popularity among the masses.
Keshubhai Patel entered in the State Assembly in 1975. He became Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation. Later, he became the Minister for Transport and Ports.
He was the leader of opposition in the State Assembly from 1990 to 1995. He became the Chief Minister of the state in 1995.
