Born on February 14, 1952, Sushma Swaraj is an ideal for all the women who believe in making career and achieving greater heights. She studied at S.D. College, Ambala Cantt and from Punjab University, Chandigarh.

       

Following her splendid academic career, she began her political life on a very happy note. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana and rendered her services to various portfolios including Labour, Employment and Social Welfare. In 1990, she was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 1996, she was elected as an M.P. in the 11th Lok Sabha and became the Information and Broadcasting Minister. She held this post till 2003 intermittently. She has a keen interest in poetry, classical music, drama and fine arts. She was the President of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Haryana for many years. Sushma Swaraj is one of the leading B.J.P. speakers in Parliament. A dedicated political leader, Swaraj is, presently India’s Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
