STEVE SIMONSEN
Steve Simonsen (born South Shields 03/04/1979) lived on Baring Street in the town. He attended Mortimer Comprehensive School.
He is Stoke City’s current no 1. goalkeeper. He signed from Everton F.C. in July 2004 on a free transfer. In 2004-2005 he started 31 times for the Potters. He also appeared for England Under 21ns.
He started his career at Tranmere Rovers with 42 starting appearance for their fist team in two years. He moved to Everton for £3.3 million in the summer of 1999. In his five seasons at Everton he was in the starting XI 40 times.
Simonsen was named the Stoke City player’s player of the season in 2004-2005.
