CHRISTINA RICCI

Christina Ricci is one of Hollywood’s most respected young actors who is also fast becoming a producer of note. With her producing partner at Blaspheme Films, Ricci has no less than four films in development. The first to go into production will be the cult comic ADRENALINE, an action film in which Ricci will also star. Joel Silver will produce with Blaspheme Films for Warner Bros.

Also in development is WESTLAND, a Bryce Kass written and directed film that was workshopped at the Sundance Screenwriter’sLab in January; SPEED QUEEN, an adaptation of a Stewart O’Nan book that is being scripted by Brian Price as a possible vehicle for Ricci to star; and BORN TO LOSE, a film being written by Heath Mattioli and Dave Spacone, to be directed by Melodie McDaniel.

Ricci made a seamless transition into more mature roles as Dedee Truit, in the scathing comedy, THE OPPOSITE OF SEX and as Layla in Vincent Gallo’s BUFFALO 66. She won rave revies for these performances including Best Actress at the Seattle Film Festival. She was later nominated for a Golden Globe Award, an American Comedy Award, and an Independent Spirit Award as Best Actress for her work in THE OPPOSITE OF SEX and earned a National Board of Review Best Supporting Actress Award for her combined efforts in THE OPPOSITE OF SEX, BUFFALO 66 and PECKER.

Christina’s performance at age 8 in a school Christmas play caught the attention of a local theatre critic, who suggested to her parents that she consider an acting career. She made her professional acting debut one year later in MERMAIDS in the pivotal role of Cher’s youngest daughter and Winona Ryder’s sister.

Ricci continued to mesmerize audiences and critics alike with her winning portrayal of the strangely adorable Wednesday Addams in THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Her performance so delighted the film’s creator’s and movie fans that Ricci was given an expanded role in the sequel ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES. She went on to star in the surprise hit of the summer 1995 season CASPER. For that, Ricci received the prestigious N.A.T.O. ShowEast Star of the Year Award and the Star of Tomorrow Award from the Motion Picture Booker’s Club for her strong performances and the $100 million-plus box office successes of ADDAMS FAMILY and CASPER.

In 1997, Ricci opened to brilliant reviews in Ang Lee’s ensemble film, THE ICE STORM, co-starring Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Allen and Elijah Wood. Other projects include a memorable cameo in Terry Gilliam’s FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, John Water’s PECKER, and the ensembles DESERT BLUE and 200 CIGARETTES. Most recently, under the direction of Tim Burton, Ricci starred opposite Johnny Depp in SLEEPY HOLLOW for which she won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award.

Ricci will next be see under the direction of Sally Potter ("Orlando") on the World War II drama, THE MAN WHO CRIED FOR WORKING TITLE. The film co-stars Cate Blancett, John Turturro and Johnny Depp. Ricci recently wrapped filming on Anthony Abrams and Adam larson Broder’s PUMPKIN for MGM. Ricci both starred in and produced the film about a sorority girl who falls for a disabled man.

Ricci makes her producing debut with PROZAC NATION. The highly-anticipated film, based on Elizabeth Wurtzel’s best-selling novel, casts Ricci in the roles of both co-producer and star under the direction of Erik Skjoldbjaerg (Insomnia"). The film also features Michelle Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jessica Lange.

Currently, Ricci is in production on MIRANDA (working title) in London with Kyle MacLachlan and John Gurt. She plays the enigmatic Miranda, whose appearance in the life of daydreaming librarian Frank (John Simm) propels him into a chaotic world where nothing is as it seems.
